Continuous Cruisers

Lifestyle, London

HERE TODAY, GONE TOMORROW

When people ask me what it’s like to live on a boat I say, “It’s different.” “What’s so different about it?” And since they ask I sum up the long, boring, explanatory list about electricity, water, internet, the toilet-situation and by this they always seem to regret even asking. But when we come to the part about being continuous cruisers they seem light up again. You see, this is the best part, the moving around part. Every 7th to 14th day we have to move on, depending on where we have been moored, and that’s what makes life like a box of chocolates – you never know what you’re gonna get…

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow.”

This bag is from the pound shop and will help me use less plastic bags. We’re going to carry a lot of groceries together; this bag that isn’t Chanel and I.

NOTHING STAYS THE SAME…

And just like that the weather changed. Londoners strutted around in their bikinis one day and zipped up their winter jackets the next day. I’m so not ready to say goodbye to this summer, but that’s how the story goes; every summer ends every single year.

#BEAUTYHACK

So apparently Summer is over for now. I was heartbroken when I was told it was going to rain so I soaked up as much sun as I could during my lunch break on deck. That’s also when I found a cure against wrinkles… Drum role: Get the app Snapseed and use the filter called ‘Smooth’ and voilà..:

Wrinkles are gone 😉

HOW GIRLS CAN HELP BUILD THE EMPIRE

Yesterday I heard about this 18-year old girl who’s training to become a captain on the Thames. Someday she wants to be the captain of an ocean liner. How cool is that! It made me think of this book called HOW GIRLS CAN HELP BUILD THE EMPIRE. It’s from 1912 and asks questions like, “Perhaps you don’t see how a mere girl can be of use to the Great British Empire?” Great question, right? But we can all rest assured because, “Girls can even be brave enough to shoot tigers, if they can keep cool.”  ; )
