“FOR THE WISE MAN EVERY DAY IS A FESTIVAL!”

Vi så Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds spille på All Points East festivalen i helgen og bildene sier vel alt om hvor gøy jeg synes det var. Høydepunktet var helt klart når Kylie Minogue kom på scenen og sang Where The Wild Roses Grow. Festivaler er rett og slett noe av det beste! En kald øl i solen, på gressplenen. Som Gary Clark sier: “There’s nothing like a music festival. People are ready to have a good time. I don’t think anyone comes to a festival going, ‘I’m gonna be a complete bummer today.'”

We saw Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds play at the All Points East festival this weekend and I guess the photos says it all; it was fun! The highlight was definitely when Kylie Minogue came on stage and sang Where The Wild Roses Grow. Can’t get enough of festivals! A cold beer in the sun, on the grass. As Gary Clark says: “There’s nothing like a music festival. People are ready to have a good time. I don’t think anyone comes to a festival going, ‘I’m gonna be a complete bummer today.'”

GO GET ‘EM TIGER!

I’m still not completely sure if this cardigan has a tiger or zebra pattern? What do you think? Anyway, here are some of my favourite tiger quotes:

“Life is like a wild tiger. You can either lie down and let it lay its paw on your head, or sit on its back and ride it.”  – Ride The Wild Tiger

“There is nothing like the thrill of walking through the jungle looking for a tiger and knowing they could be watching you already.”  – Ashlan Gorse Costeau

“In waking a tiger, use a long stick.” – Mao Zedong

I want to know…

THE INVITATION

It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for,
And if you dare to dream of meeting
Your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
For love, for your dream,
For the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon.
I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow,
If you have been opened by life’s betrayals,
Or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain,
Mine or your own,
Without moving
To hide it or fade it or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy,
Mine or your own,
If you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
Without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me is true.
I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself,
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul.
I want to know if you can be faithless and therefore be trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see beauty
Even when it is not pretty every day,
And if you can source your own life
From its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure,
Yours and mine,
And still stand on the edge of a lake and shout to the silver of the full moon,
“Yes!”

It doesn’t interest me to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair,
Weary and bruised to the bone,
And do what needs to be done for the children.

It doesn’t interest me who you are, how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
In the center of the fire with me
And not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you
From the inside
When all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone
With yourself,
And if you truly like the company you keep
In the empty moments.

“WHERE FLOWERS BLOOM, SO DOES HOPE,” said Lady Bird Johnson

They know their gardens in this country. May is always a fantastic month in London and if you’re in the city now and love flowers, then I recommend a trip to the Chelsea Flower Show. Here are a couple of pictures I took from when I was invited a couple of years ago. The English really are world champions when it comes to gardening!

RED, WHITE AND BLUE

Gratulerer med dagen!

The French have The Bastille Day, Americans have 4th of July, the Irish have St.Patricks day and the Norwegians have their 17th of May. I’ve often been asked what’s up with the Norwegians and their flag? And the first things that come to my mind are A: Freedom and B: The party is where the flag is. Wish you all a happy 17th of May! PS: This is a day where you’re allowed to eat as many hot dogs and as much ice cream as your stomach can handle ; )

JJ MIDWINTER

Surf’s up! Skummende bølgetopper og vind i håret – fotografen JJ Midwinter takes you there.

Surf’a up! Breaking waves and wind in your hair – photographer JJ Midwinter takes you there. Sometimes my days are almost a little too colourful, too chaotic and based around my computer. When the to-do list is very long and a little boring I seek inspiration through Instagram and take a little sneak peak into other people’s lives – like jjmidwinter’s for example.

ONE FOR THE MONEY, TWO FOR THE SHOW…

I guess mine is Blue Suede Shoes today. I especially like the part where he’s singing: ‘Let’s go Cat, go! It almost beats Hound Dog or American Trilogy or Always On My Mind or Jailhouse Rock or Burning Love or… it’s impossible to pick a favourite! Viva Las Vegas, Good Time Charlie’s Got The Blues, In The Ghetto, If I Can Dream… Gotta make that playlist!
